Reviews for marketing calendar software services and analysis of user reviews about your competitors

The absurd paywalls and useless support.

100 “uses” of a mindmap, to them, means having 100 nodes on a mindmap… even if you just took a couple hours, every time you hit enter it’s a “use” every time a team member just reloads the page it’s a “use”

And I’m literally paying for the “unlimited” plan.

Support level 1, 2, and 3 will repeat the same useless response even after admitting that their “description of uses could be imporved” — will not provide any easy assistance whatsoever such as unlocking the feature to allow me to access my mindmap created with the team, closes the ticket prematurely without even a reply.

They are 100% inflexible with regards to cancelations regarding renewals. Our company had turnover with the previous primary contact for S–.

We wished to not renew for an additional year when the renewal came up. The account manager for S– reached out to our previous contact without supplying adequate information regarding the auto renewal.

We provided notice of our intent to not renew ahead of the auto renewal date, but missed the “cut off” for that notice by a few days. S– then held us to the entire auto renewal period.

After asking kindly for them to not enforce, or not to enforce for the full renewal period, especially given our situation with primary contact turnover, and taking into account the fact that we still provided up front notice, S– proceeded to hold us to the entire renewal period and payment.

Trapping customers in contracts is not a wise approach for how to operate as a S– vendor. We will never use them again. Others should think twice before conducting business with them.

exorbitant, confusing monthly prices, terrible customer service

A–‘s pricing system is not clear from the onset, and I landed with a $152 monthly fee as a small business. A– also recently ended their customer service email, so to get service you have to use their AI chat bot.

After being charged my first $152 fee, I assumed I had mistakenly signed up for an annual fee – because it was so much more than the program advertised as a monthly fee. By the second monthly the fee landed, I reached out to customer service to request my account be cancelled and the amount refunded.

Despite reaching out immediately, A– notified me they would not refund the amount charged. Then the “gave me a 2 month free trial” instead of cancelling my account.

Today I find another $152 fee on my account, and again am refused a refund.

The phone app leaves a lot to be desired and it’s not as visually appealing as some alternates (eg. the calendar view doesn’t colour code clients or anything like that). You also can’t make or select custom covers for T– which renders that pretty much useless.

There’s no hashtag research option once you’re scheduling either and not a lot of decent social listening options. They also use dodgy review companies who lure you in with promised gift cards and rewards that don’t even deliver on them.

Take the reviews all with a grain of salt.

Real review to a real marketing calendar software service

In the fast-paced world of digital marketing, the ability to plan, visualize, and manage marketing activities effectively is essential. Marketing calendar software is designed to meet these needs, but not all platforms live up to user expectations.

By examining customer reviews, we can identify several common complaints about these tools. Here’s an analysis of these issues with specific recommendations on how your marketing calendar software can avoid such pitfalls and excel over competitors.

Limited visualization options

What competitors get wrong: A frequent complaint among users of competitor marketing calendar software is the lack of flexible visualization options. Many platforms offer only basic calendar views, which can be insufficient for managing complex marketing strategies that include multiple channels and campaigns.

How to do it better: To stand out, your software should offer a variety of customizable viewing options, such as daily, weekly, monthly, and even yearly overlays, along with more granular views like list, Gantt chart, or Kanban board views.

These should allow users to customize their dashboard to best suit their planning style and needs, making it easier to oversee extensive marketing campaigns at a glance.

Complex usability

What competitors get wrong: Users often report that some marketing calendar tools are overly complex, with steep learning curves. This can deter teams from adopting the tool effectively, especially in smaller businesses without dedicated tech support.

How to do it better: Design your software with user-friendliness in mind. Include intuitive drag-and-drop features, easy entry fields for adding new items, and clear, straightforward navigation.

Additionally, offer comprehensive tutorial videos, a detailed FAQ section, and live support to assist users in making the most of your software without frustration.

Poor integration capabilities

What competitors get wrong: Another major issue is the lack of integration with other marketing tools and platforms. Competitors’ calendars often operate in isolation, making it difficult for marketers to synchronize their campaigns across different software.

How to do it better: Ensure your marketing calendar software integrates seamlessly with popular CRM systems, social media platforms, email marketing tools, and analytics services. This interoperability helps users streamline their workflows, ensuring that all components of their marketing strategy are aligned and updated in real-time.

Inadequate collaboration features

What competitors get wrong: Marketing is typically a team effort, yet many marketing calendar solutions do not support effective collaboration. Customers complain about insufficient options for team interaction, task assignment, and real-time updates.

How to do it better: Enhance your software with robust collaboration tools. Features should include the ability to assign tasks, leave comments, set up notifications for upcoming deadlines, and update statuses.

These functionalities will encourage teamwork and ensure that all members are on the same page, enhancing the overall productivity of marketing teams.

Lack of customization

What competitors get wrong: Users need marketing calendars that can adapt to their unique business processes and workflows. However, many competitor products offer limited customization options, forcing businesses to adapt their workflows to the software instead of the other way around.

How to do it better: Provide extensive customization options in your software. Allow users to create custom tags, color-coding systems, and filters.

Enable the modification of data fields and the structure of the calendar to fit different types of campaigns and marketing activities. Tailoring the tool to meet specific business requirements can significantly improve user satisfaction and software utility.

Inadequate mobile experience

What competitors get wrong: With the increasing reliance on mobile devices, a common limitation of current marketing calendar software is a poor mobile experience. Many tools do not offer fully functional mobile versions, hindering users’ ability to manage campaigns on-the-go.

How to do it better: Develop a responsive mobile version of your marketing calendar software or a dedicated mobile app that offers a comprehensive set of features. Ensure that users can access and interact with their marketing calendar effectively from any device, facilitating greater flexibility and productivity.

Conclusion

By focusing on these key areas for improvement—enhancing visualization options, simplifying usability, integrating with other tools, facilitating collaboration, allowing extensive customization, and improving the mobile experience—your marketing calendar software can not only avoid the pitfalls of competitors but also provide superior value to users, setting your product apart in a crowded market.

Is this what you expect to see at the end of the article? No!

Oh, what a groundbreaking strategy! Enhancing visualization options?

Because nobody in the history of software ever thought to let users actually see things more clearly. Genius!

And simplifying usability? What a bold concept!

It’s almost like people prefer things that are easier to use than trying to solve a Rubik’s cube blindfolded.

Integrating with other tools? Now that’s just crazy talk. Since when did software need to play nice with other software?

I thought the whole point was to keep users locked in a labyrinth of incompatible applications. Facilitating collaboration?

Well, aren’t we social butterflies! Here I was thinking everyone liked working in isolated silos like grumpy old hermits.

Allowing extensive customization? Mind-blowing.

It’s as if you think users might have different needs or something. And improving the mobile experience—because, apparently, some people use smartphones nowadays.

Who knew?

With these wildly innovative ideas, how could your marketing calendar software not leapfrog over the competition? Watch out, world, here comes another software solution ready to ‘disrupt’ the market with common sense!

Keep it up, you might just make something people actually want to use.
